As a Health and safety officer you will use your knowledge and skills to promote a positive health and safety culture within the workplace. You will be responsible for ensuring that all workers comply with legislation and follow safety policies and make sure practices are adopted and adhered to.
Based in a variety of locations you will help to plan, implement, monitor and review protective and preventative safety measures. You willl work in partnership with employers, employees, directors and trade unions to minimise; Operations losses, health problems, accidents and injuries in the workplace.
-Risk assestment: how could risks be reduced.
-Safe operational proceedures: identify and take account of all hazards.
-Site inspections: take regularly they should make sure procedures are properly implemented.
-Work practices: make any changes to make things safe and to comply with legislation. Prepare health and safety strategies to develop internal policy.
-Training: lead in-house with managers and employees on risks and issues.
-Records: on inspection findings, produce reports to suggest any improvements.
-Legislation: stay upto date with new legislation and maintain a working knowledge of all Health and Safety Executive HSE and developments which may affect your industry.
